Taman Wisata Mekarsari (Mekarsari Park) is one of the centers of biodiversity conservation of tropical fruits in the world, especially the kind of superior fruits collected from all regions in Indonesia, as well as a place of cultivation research (agronomy), breeding and seed multiplication and then disseminated to farmers and communities.
Taman Wisata Mekarsari (Mekarsari Recreation Park) formerly Taman Buah Mekarsari (Mekarsari Fruit Garden), because the initial focus of this Park is the preservation, cultivation and distribution of seeds from plants in Indonesia, especially fruits. This park is in initiated by the ideas of the deceased mother Hartinah Suharto, wife of former president of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto, or better known as Ibu Tien.
With changes to Taman Wisata Mekarsari (Mekarsari Park), accompanied by improvements and additions to existing facilities there, as well as the concept changes. At first, superior activity in this park is Picking Fruit. However, because the time of harvest or fruit picking uncertain and can not be any time, to attract visitors, provided facilities and other tourism activities.
One activity that is still associated with the initial concept of the establishment of this Park is to learn to grow.
